A thread on feminism:

It's bad enough to get one's first letter from @AARP but when it's addressed to "Julia Caruso" when your name is Julia Carreon is 🤬🤬🤬.

1/
I kept my own name at marriage. I do not hyphenate it. Heck, I won't even go by Mrs. Caruso at the boys' school.

There is literally not a single legal or personal artifact in existence where I am Caruso.

2/
Even our annual family x-cards (for which we are infamous) are signed "Julia Carreon, Chris Caruso & boys."

So the question is: Where oh where did @AARP get this name from?

3/
I don't know.

But it's yet another infuriating example of patriarchy in society, where women are encouraged or expected to defer to men.

4/
I stand against it.

(Don't @ me that this is slam against women who have taken their husband's name. It's not. I obvi believe EVERY woman has the right to do whatever she wants.)

End.
