I can& #39;t stress this enough – drop what you are doing #TimsTwitterListeningParty https://twitter.com/MartinBelam/status/1311685004838268930">https://twitter.com/MartinBel...
Oh my god when his voice kicks in #TimsTwitterListeningParty
Jesus fuck I wish I could ever learn this lesson for myself #TimsTwitterListeningParty
So when this album came out I wasn& #39;t a Dexys or Kevin Rowland fan at all #TimsTwitterListeningParty
I& #39;d obviously heard the hits, and also had a friend who& #39;d repeatedly played me "This Is What She& #39;s Like" in the mid-80s to no avail #TimsTwitterListeningParty
But when this came out, there was so much weird press around it, and that sleeve, and I worked in Reckless Records in Soho and we got an advanced promo and I put it on #TimsTwitterListeningParty
"It& #39;s OK. It& #39;s gonna be better from now on. Listen, this is what we are gonna do…" #TimsTwitterListeningParty
From the first moments of that opening spoken word intro to & #39;The Greatest Love of All& #39; I was completely entranced #TimsTwitterListeningParty
I think all my colleagues thought I had totally lost the plot, but it really spoke to me #TimsTwitterListeningParty
Everyone was so cruel about it at the time, but I just don& #39;t think it is like any other album I& #39;d ever heard. It& #39;s totally unique. #TimsTwitterListeningParty
We used to shut Reckless Records in Soho at 7pm, and I& #39;d sometimes put this album on at 6:45 pm. 19 times out of 20 it would drop a hint and clear the shop #TimsTwitterListeningParty
But every twentieth time, someone would & #39;get it& #39;, rush to the counter, ask what it was, and I& #39;d sell a copy. These days I& #39;d have probably swapped social media details with them. "You understand, here& #39;s my number…" #TimsTwitterListeningParty
I subsequently went on to delve into the Dexys back (and then future) catalogue, and have been lucky enough to see them live a couple of times now #TimsTwitterListeningParty
Oh my god his voice then on "If not I& #39;ll just die" this album is truly one of the greatest OH FUCK now it is the long and winding road #TimsTwitterListeningParty
Paul is the best Beatle, don& #39;t @ me, but this is just such a sensational performance of a standard. Kevin just takes every song on this album to another place/level #TimsTwitterListeningParty
This album is just one of the most special raw and emotional things I& #39;ve ever heard. Like nothing else. I unashamedly love it for ever. #TimsTwitterListeningParty
When I was a kid, my parents used to have loads of Hollies singles, and we used to listen to tapes of them in the car #TimsTwitterListeningParty
I think they are a criminally under-rated band who made great records, and I Can& #39;t Tell The Bottom From The Top was a real favourite of mine and I knew it backwards. #TimsTwitterListeningParty
And Kevin here just infused with it a couple of lyric changes and turned it into something else, a whole new dimension, and the SEQUENCING on this album #TimsTwitterListeningParty
[MAKES MENTAL NOTE] I am going to come back and write something on my blog about how much I loved The Hollies as a kid and that they are a band that history has been totally overlooked #TimsTwitterListeningParty
I was very much looking forward to brandishing my card sleeve promo copy of this CD as a flourish at the end and I& #39;ve just been through the tiny pile of CDs I still own and, ummmmm #TimsTwitterListeningParty
