Today someone asked me how I have time to participate in masterminds and do all this online learning and business development without getting overwhelmed, and "how do i find the time??". My answer:
1. You don't find the time, you make the time. Business design is essential to the growth and development of your business. If you're following the "Clockwork" method by @MikeMichalowicz, 10% of your time should be spent *designing* your business. that is non-negotiable time.
2. You time-block it. There are blocks in my calendar called "Brain Time", and "Business development" that are set aside in advance for learning and business design. I don't read things as I collect them, they're set aside for those blocks so my brain can relax in the present
3. Participating in masterminds and online courses have had huge measurable impacts on my personal and business growth. When you get stuck in the "doing," you can often forget about the bigger picture and find yourself working way more hours than you intended or than you enjoy
4. Learning is my #1 strength. I love learning new things every day, so it doesn't overwhelm me. Business design is also super interesting to me, and so I'm always looking to optimize for more joy, more impact, more resilience.
5. I turn off ALL notifications on online communities + networks. I (mostly) only go in and check them on my designated blocks of time. I don't have these apps on my phone either.
6. Masterminds have been pivotal in getting out of my head, and out of my own bubble. It’s so valuable to see others growth, tactics, struggles, insights, and perspectives.
7. So by treating all of this biz and personal dev time as sacred/essential/ non-negotiable time, I enjoy it. It isn’t something I squeeze in to the calendar, it’s literally the first thing in the calendar. It’s like... a brain spa that I get to have several days a week.
