A few notes to lay people following me: each and every one of you is a beloved child of God, who I want the very best for.

It is beyond the bounds of human capacity for me to be a pastor to all of you.

Please do not assume that if you read all of my tweets that means we have an emotional connection. That is not a reasonable expectation of our relationship, and that is not personal about you.

You *do* deserve a pastoral relationship with someone who listens to you, knows you, and cares about you personally! I want that for you!

So I am going to tell you, in the most loving way I know, to look for that from someone else.

If it’s impossible for you to find that locally, an online pastor can be real! But it will probably have to be someone with fewer followers.

And I hope and pray and trust you will find one. Meanwhile, I’ll keep trying to get clergy to be our very best for you.
