I was the 28th of 28 runners on the women’s XC team at Minnesota as a freshman. I raced the same number of times as our #1 runner. I was our 6th runner at the @bigten championships as a senior! I am who I am because Minnesota XC believed in development and giving girls a chance.
Two of these three were walk-ons who got a chance. Last year they were the reason we made our 14th NCAA meet in the last 15 years and were All-Region performers. Cross Country is a developmental sport, and you never know which 18 year old will be the best 22 year old!
. @mstrandemo was a walk-on who went on to be a 2x @bigten champion and Patty Berg Legacy Award Winner (best female student-athlete in the athletic department) in her career. She isn’t given a walk-on spot with her HS mark (2:17, 5:08) on a small roster. #development
From walk-on to All-American! Steph Price got a chance and took it all the way to the highest level of our sport! #development
