Yesterday’s “debate” may have broken some brains.
Vacuous statements, like ‘we got what we deserve’ not only hollow out any systemic understanding of *how* & *why* we got here, they also insinuate blame on the people with the least power.
Stop that shit.

Lost in the MSM’s post-debate conversation is the fact that this debate was NOT an aberration from a normally engaging, meaningful & participatory democratic political process – but rather a logical extension of consolidation of power by corporations & the 1% for over 40 years.
And since both political parties first & foremost represent the interests of corporations & the 1%, virtually nothing of substance could be offered by either party.
Mudslinging about taxes, but neither candidate could talk about how BOTH parties have cut taxes & increased tax loopholes for the wealthy for over 40 years! Any substantive talk about how both parties contributed to extreme wealth inequality – off-limits.
Posturing on ‘law & order,’ but neither candidate can state the most obvious fact: corporations & the 1% are *the most* lawless among us.
See this thread for many examples of how the “justice” system systemically targets people of color & the poor: https://twitter.com/ArashKolahi/status/1298384188261842944">https://twitter.com/ArashKola...

The segment on race was not about proactive anti-racist dismantling of institutional racism – but rather the entire spectrum was between overt white supremacy on one side & a softer, more subtle institutional racism on the other.
The discussion on climate was a joke. No talk about how capitalism inherently & systematically destroys the environment nor the systemic changes necessary to save our planet & ourselves.
Again, anything that might make corporations unhappy is ‘off the table’ by both parties.

Virtually any policy that is *widely supported* by the population, but that is at odds with the interests of corporations & the 1% is (and has been) automatically ‘off the table’ by BOTH parties. https://twitter.com/ArashKolahi/status/1283648404598386688">https://twitter.com/ArashKola...
And that is the path paved by BOTH corporate parties: pervasive alienation, feelings of powerlessness, and continuously increasing authoritarianism... that have led us to this moment https://twitter.com/ArashKolahi/status/1294322016086941699">https://twitter.com/ArashKola...
‘We got what we deserve’ gets it wrong.
The corporate/state nexus has been consolidating power for over 40 years, aided by both of their political parties & the corporate media.
It’s been a one-sided war against the powerless by the powerful & the powerless don& #39;t deserve this.
