Thread for commonly asked questions about IFComp judging!

Q. Can I be an IFComp judge?
A. Yes!

Q. But there's no way I can play all the games. 100 games is a lot!
A. You only have to play 5 games. 1/
Q. But wait, won't it be unfair if I rate just a few games? What if the games I didn't play are way better or way worse?

A. Dozens of people rate IFComp. It would be biased if there were just a few voters, but statistical laws mean that a large collection of biased voters 2/
behaves like a large collection of unbiased voters, if you average them out. So you won't ruin the comp if you missed the best or worst games.

Q. Is it bad if I just play games that look cool?

A. Not at all! It helps to do a few random ones, too, but 3/
picking the ones you like is great and helpful!

Q. Are you sure I shouldn't just start alphabetically and play every game?

A. A lot of people do that, so the people in the middle and end miss out. Picking cool looking ones or random ones helps out a lot! 4/4
And these games are all available at https://ifcomp.org/ballot ! (thanks for the reminder @ifcomp)
