My word but a whole hour listening to sane, funny & well-informed people is a tonic I heartily recommend: https://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/2020/10/01/restrictions-overreaction-serious-covid-19-cases-floor-claims/
The Telegraph’ podcast “Planet Normal”, with Allison Pearson, Liam Hallighan & special guest, The Fat Emperor himself, Ivor Cummings. Just brilliant.
My favourite moment was hearing Ivor relate when Nobel Laureate, Michael Levitt, who’d drawn on data from China & Italy, wrote to Prof Ferguson at Imperial, telling him he’d overcooked his model by 10x (again). “The lizard” apparently didn’t reply. Levitt, as you do, rousted...
...up a handful of other clever people from his Nobel Laureates club, and after describing the position, they wrote again to Ferguson. He replied with a non-reply acknowledgement then went to ground. This is a month prior to lockdown. It could all have been so different.
Shortly after that, Ofcom introduced Coronavirus Broadcasting Guidelines. These more or less bind all TV & radio broadcasters & editors of newspapers NOT to give airtime to those promulgating stories counter to official narratives & those of Govts appointed health advisors.
So if you’ve wondered why highly qualified people pretty much never get on main media, there’s your reason. We’ve had a less free press than Russia’s for the last 6months & our idiot parliamentarians have just renewed the Govts exceptional powers Act.
