alright everyone, after drafting/completing the petition & almost releasing it, i took it upon myself to speak with professors & admins who could provide me with more insight on the spring break situation. & while i wish i could be able to release my petition i worked hard on-
i received word that unfortunately we cannot have even a week of light to no curriculum due to the sad truth that many students would take this as an opportunity to leave campus and go on vacation. this would be an incentive for them instead, we cannot permit this from occurring-
& quite frankly, i can& #39;t help but agree. right now we have to prioritize the lives at risk due to covid, many students who work on campus CANNOT afford to get sick & lose their job, actually people cannot risk to get sick IN GENERAL. we need to be united throughout all of this-
& understand that yes, through your frustration with our university regarding football games, it& #39;s not to the same extremity as the students i know that will leave to covid hot spots & return for spring break infected. & i believe y& #39;all are smart enough to realize this too-
please see that we are still in a pandemic, & this situation we are in is tragic, the 207k lives we have lost JUST in the US demonstrates it. my heart would break again to see or hear if more people lose their life to this awful virus-
i implore y& #39;all to take a second to think about what y& #39;all are upset about, & then i ask of y& #39;all to see if it pales in comparison to prioritizing the lives of people who will be at risk if any form of spring break were to be allowed, if it does pale than you know what is right-
maybe our school cannot stop the football games, & believe me i understand your frustration i am upset too. but that doesn& #39;t mean that WE cannot be BETTER than them ourselves & stay strong next semester. i believe in us, i& #39;ve said it before & i will continue to say it-
