Hear me out.

I& #39;m at an age & mental state in life where I don& #39;t have the energy & don& #39;t want the responsibility of doing the labour of explaining & #39;issues of racism& #39; to others.

I understand people are always learning but that doesn& #39;t mean *I* have to always teach.

Let me elaborate.

Discussing this isn& #39;t just mentally exhausting like having a debate over something that doesn& #39;t directly impact me.

It& #39;s especially taxing & costs a lot because it& #39;s entangled with trauma & pain that is unearthed with every single individual conversation.

/2
Also, it& #39;s not fair for you, an unaffected individual who just intellectually meddles in these topics, to expect me, the PoC that& #39;s personally affected, to be happy to be your personal point of information, especially not until you understand what you are putting me through.

/3
PoC can& #39;t help feeling a victim during these discussions, and more often than not, the conversation involves the PoC being pitted in a position where they absolutely have to *prove* things to you & convince you of why they& #39;re right, otherwise you will continue to be ignorant.

/4
It is very mentally & emotionally draining when you, in the process of disagreeing, also rob and deny this person of their painful lived experience.

/5
Moreover,

there is more than enough knowledge out there for you to educate yourself should you *truly* want the facts and to learn.

So stop expecting near-strangers at parties or work or other social conventions to give you this. It& #39;s a really big ask given the cost.
