I think this reply to my comment on Arlo's video summarises why people see the Paper Mario community as more "toxic" than other game communities.

They clearly didn't even read what I said.
For the record I think Arlo's new video was very good and summarises the Paper Mario discourse well and fairly and does a good job displaying the rowdy nature of both extremes. Obviously, I fall into the "supporter" category but he didn't paint me badly like others might.
I just kinda disagree with his view on the word "fanbase". Because when people say a fanbase is toxic, I don't think a single person on the planet has ever meant "everybody who likes a piece of media" but rather "those who are most actively participating in discussion around it".
In which case, yes I still believe when you discuss Paper Mario there are a lot more insults thrown around than something like Mario Kart Tour which I also believe is hated for several just and unjust reasons. The active discussion around Mario Kart Tour isn't nearly as bad.
Really the fact that Arlo needed to make a video to shut up the annoying people in his own community kinda proves my point haha.
