These are staggering numbers for countries like India with more than 90% of the total workforce in the informal economy (ILO, 2019)

Physical distancing & lockdown led to loss of jobs, especially for those who do not reside at their workplace.

On the other hand, live-in domestic workers faced longer working hours, & more tasks, as a result of school closures and people working from home. Those who still had jobs have risked their safety & those of their loved ones to continue working in a pandemic.
