New thread! I’m going to suggest a film a day in October (and most of them will not be the ones on my lists for @shuffleonline). Follow along

Oct 1: WE SUMMON THE DARKNESS is a horror comedy streaming on Netflix. It’s about metal music and Satanic Panic in the ‘80s. It’s fun!
Oct 2: HORROR NOIRE is a documentary on Shudder. It examines the role of Black people in the genre, on and offscreen. Talking heads include writers, actors, academics and directors. I learned so much from this one!
Oct 3: JOY RIDE is a thriller starring Paul Walker (RIP), Steve Zahn and Leelee Sobieski. I’ve loved this one since middle school when I first saw it. Road rage is real

Oct 4: OCULUS is a supernatural horror by the always-great Mike Flanagan. Interesting timeline and family stuff (sound familiar, HILL HOUSE fans?).
Oct 5: JOHN DIES AT THE END is a wild horror comedy unlike anything you’ve ever seen. It’s not for everyone, but the book it’s based on is worth checking out too.
Oct 6: STOKER is a dark, disturbing, dramatic film from Park Chan-wook. Mia Wasikowska is great in this.
Oct 7: ATTACK THE BLOCK is a great British sci-fi horror (starring young John Boyega!). It has one of my favorite creature designs

Oct 8: A DARK SONG uses the occult and the supernatural in what feels like a fresh way. I wrote about it for @shuffleonline way back in 2016 (please don’t judge my errors from 4 years ago): http://bit.ly/2xCyNg1
Oct 9: VILLAGE OF THE DAMNED (1960) has creepy kids. I can’t explain why, but this one stuck with me. I expected creepy kids to show up in the dark after watching it, even though I wasn’t scared during the film

Oct 10: TOKYO GORE POLICE is a wild tale of revenge, with lots of sci-fi elements and body horror (and gore!)
Oct 11: THE PEOPLE UNDER THE STAIRS is a creepy, darkly funny and very original ‘90s horror movie from my beloved Wes Craven

Oct 12: THE INVITATION is a brilliant slow burn from Karyn Kusama. It’s currently streaming on Netflix, and I reviewed it for @xmorbidbeautyx in 2016: http://bit.ly/3nPKp6v
Oct 13: THE CRAZIES (2010) is a remake of Romero’s 1973 film (which I haven’t yet seen
). But it’s a really good take on the outbreak film, and it’s genuinely troubling and scary.

Oct 14: BEHIND THE MASK: THE RISE OF LESLIE VERNON is an incredibly meta horror comedy/mockumentary, released 10 years after SCREAM but ahead of other meta films TUCKER & DALE VS. EVIL, CABIN IN THE WOODS and THE FINAL GIRLS.
