Having a conversation about Maiden, Mother, Crone and how it& #39;s a modern interpretation of "The Great Goddess" and doesn& #39;t actually fit any specific goddesses I know, & also how it reduces the divine female to a reproductive cycle, and how much I dislike it. Which led me to (1/?)
Thinking about one of the most precious gifts our transgender and gender fluid friends bring to us, which is a chance to define femininity and masculinity in terms OTHER than reproductive function. Which of course got me thinking about TERFs & how absurd they are, because (2/?)
Haven& #39;t feminists been fighting to be seen as more than a womb for centuries? Isn& #39;t one of our biggest problems the way our culture limits and oppress people based on their reproductive organs? Wouldn& #39;t we ALL benefit from ending this habit of defining each other by (3/?)
what we have in our pants? If you& #39;re a feminist and hate trans women, you& #39;re shooting yourself in the foot. If you& #39;re a witch and think your power comes from your vagina/uterus, you& #39;re limiting yourself - and what happens if you have a medical need for a hysterectomy?(4/?)
If you lose your womb, do you cease to be a witch? Isn& #39;t it hypocritical for a witch, who slips in and out of many worlds and takes many forms in spirit travel, to reject the idea of gender as a spectrum that has less to do with our physical bodies than with our spirits? (5/?)
I just don& #39;t get why anyone who has been ostracized or oppressed for being somehow "other" would then ostracize someone else for rejecting gender norms and embracing who they are at their core. I think we should be giving our trans friends medals of valor and fancy tiaras. End.
