U.P. Chief Minister, Yogi Adityanath is living up to the statement he wrote 6 years ago in an essay on his website 'Matrushakti Bharatiya Sanskriti Ke Sandharbh Mein'.
He said that women were not capable of being left free or independent and that their energy should be regulated lest it become worthless and destructive. Yogi Adityanath is now protecting the rapists and murderers of the 19 year-old Dalit woman, Manisha Valmiki.
Yogi Adityanath's state administration has declared that forensic reports show the woman was not raped. There seems to have been a thinly veiled attempt to destroy evidence.
On the night of 30th September and 1st October, journalist Tanushree Pandey reported from Hathras that the UP police had barricaded Manisha Valmiki’s family in their home and forcibly consigned her body to flames without their consent.
The family's repeated pleas to take their daughter’s body home to grieve her were ignored. Pandey shared video images of the police preventing people from getting close to the burning pyre (which is also seen in the images).
Refusing to answer questions about what was going on, police personnel are seen lecturing the family and telling them that they have made mistakes.
In the morning, Pandey reported from the exact spot where the fire had burned the previous night that the family had refused to reclaim the ashes saying they wanted justice first.
The police impunity seen under the Yogi Adityanath regime is ghastly. They have subjected the family of the caste rape victim to immense trauma and deprived them of the basic human right to mourn the death of a loved one.
