You can tell how committed your union is to confronting white supremacy by how many white members decline nominations to the executive so that BIPOC can take leadership roles.
For real. It's that easy.

"With thanks to my nominator I decline the nomination and would like to nominate [BIPOC person]."

Idgaf how "ready" you think they are. Unions offer training. I had zero readiness when I became secretary. They trained me.
Funny story about my local. I tried to get a diversity and inclusion officer and yes. I wanted the position. There are national diversity committees and you need to be on the exec to join.

Instead of creating a new position they made it part of the VP's duties. A white woman.
At every meeting unions read equality statements and then go on to call everyone brother or sister. A binary that we know excludes people.

At every meeting predominately white executives read a statement that their actions don't support.
