Sir Mark Carleton-Smith and Sir Nick Carter recently gave a pair of speeches on the upcoming focus of the Army and Arme dForces in general. There is some very good/exciting stuff in there which will be covered in due time but I& #39;d like to raise my biggest fear here, first.

1/
My biggest fear is that arguably the MOD& #39;s greatest weakness, as TD succinctly put it recently, is our constant "chasing of the shiny& #39;s". Constant analysis paralysis, which hasn& #39;t (in my opinion) lead to a credible fieldable "warfighting" Division since Warrior introduction.

2/
Sir Nick and Sir Mark have discussed going all-in on the very mechanisms that chase the shiny& #39;s and that have over-analysed every program without delivery.

3/
I don& #39;t see much Cult of the Imperfect here, much "Get it working, *then* get it working right, *then* get it working fast" thinking, unless we can embed it, inculcate it, within those mechanisms.

4/
Embedding the Cult of the Imperfect and Delivering Outcomes into the New Thinking being proposed is going to be one of the greatest challenges the MOD will ever face.
