how i made hikari's filmreel accessory ; a thread

hello! this is my very first cosplay prop tutorial and i will show you how to make hikari's filmreel hat accessory!

the final product of mine may not be perfect so please no hate!

i used tape to draw 5 small circles and 2 large ones! tape is needed because you have to trace them!

then, use a glue gun to stick the circles together. much better if you glue the small ones before moving on to the big circle ones.

take a small cap of an object and draw circles as well for the filmreel's holes. i used recycled folder to draw them. then, arrange them like the picture on the right.

(USE GLUE STICK INSTEAD OF GLUE GUN TO PASTE BECAUSE IT WILL BE HARD TO REMOVE THEM LEADING TO TEARING)

next, as obvious, paper mache the prop (i have to wet glue so i had to use a combination of paste and glue stick together to make it stronger). wait for it to dry completely, and after it's dry, prepare the paints for the accessory.

COLOR GUIDE:

2 scoops of Black paint + 3 scoops of White = ingame art Gray

or:

Gray, Black, Gray paint pattern

paint the base first before the holes! then, later paint the other parts in black. wait for everything to dry before shading.

i used some colored pencils and oil pastels to shade some of the filmreel's sides and back, to make it look like it's the real deal.

now follow the shade pattern:

front: dark gray, light, gray, white (outer)
back: light gray, dark gray, white

shiny parts: white and silver color (if your color pencil set has one)

and finished!
