Naagin season 1 was something new & different for itv. It was totally unexpected, a wow factor for everyone when mouni's character turned out to be a naagin. It obviously garnered TRP.
The season ended leaving a trail for season 2 making audience curious.

Naagin season 2 had connection with previous season keeping already there audience glued with old characters and gaining more viewers with few fresh faces and storyline. It ended on mysterious note keeping audience excited for next season.

Naagin season 3 came with completely different story, and new faces. Also theme was not only restricted till revenge, but had love story focused as well with usual naagmani drama. Famous old faces showed up in finale as well.

Again, something new keeping craze intact.

Naagin season 4 came up with mother's revenge theme & naagmani drama. something that's been tried & tested already. It left audience kinda unimpressed with not so much mystery around & idea of what's gonna happen next.

+ It caught up with corona & ended with few epis.

Naagin season 5 started right after season 4 ended with somewhat new theme penning down story of the one with whom it all started.

Again with corona times, IPL around the corner + disconnected audience. It will take time for this season to set their base & bring audience back.

Makers have pretty wide scope here to bring mystery & be creative but it'll take time. It's foolish to expect pathbreaking TRP outta blue comparing it with well established shows.
Having said that, this season still needs to improve alot in terms of screenplay & editing.
