Few things are more disrespectful than when judges see public defenders waiting to call up cases & then call up private attys first. This sends 2 msgs to the ppl PDs serve: your time doesn’t matter and you got stuck with a lawyer who I don’t show preferential treatment towards.

And to the private attorneys who need to call up a case quickly. JUST BE A PERSON AND ASK NICELY.

And I’ll add it’s always been white male private lawyers. Every single time. Recently some came into court and kept asking me questions (rudely and entitled-ly) and I just ignored him. I’m a lawyer not your secretary because you can’t figure court out.

White male private lawyers over 45-50ish. The young guys not so much.
