THREAD: Determined to make 2020 count, starting TODAY I& #39;ve set myself #thestravinskychallenge: studying the complete orchestral works until the new year https://abs.twimg.com/emoji/v2/... draggable="false" alt="😃" title="LĂ€chelndes Gesicht mit geöffnetem Mund" aria-label="Emoji: LĂ€chelndes Gesicht mit geöffnetem Mund">
53 works, including revisions - I& #39;ll be studying all published versions of each work that needs a conductor. Going through in mostly chronological order - I& #39;ll be tweeting about findings.
Conductors - DM me if you& #39;d like to study anything together via zoom. Would be grateful for any background reading suggestions too! https://abs.twimg.com/emoji/v2/... draggable="false" alt="đŸ€“" title="Nerd-Gesicht" aria-label="Emoji: Nerd-Gesicht">
First up: Symphony no. 1 in E flat, written 1905-1907 and revised in 1913. A calm and tonal start to this project! #thestravinskychallenge #stravinsky #conductor #studyproject
btw do you all know how BEAUTIFUL the 3rd mvmt of Symphony no.1 is? I& #39;ve had the best day with this intriguing young Stravinsky. Perfect evening music, so here you go: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vNtj9yzwoPI">https://www.youtube.com/watch... Tomorrow is Scherzo Fantastique time https://abs.twimg.com/emoji/v2/... draggable="false" alt="😍" title="LĂ€chelndes Gesicht mit herzförmigen Augen" aria-label="Emoji: LĂ€chelndes Gesicht mit herzförmigen Augen">
Scherzo Fantastique: a buzzing start to the day. It was infact inspired by Maeterlinck& #39;s & #39;la vie des abeilles& #39;, although Strav claimed it was intended purely symphonically. Also apparently the piece that first drew Diaghilev‘s attention.. https://abs.twimg.com/emoji/v2/... draggable="false" alt="🐝" title="Honigbiene" aria-label="Emoji: Honigbiene">https://abs.twimg.com/emoji/v2/... draggable="false" alt="🐝" title="Honigbiene" aria-label="Emoji: Honigbiene">https://abs.twimg.com/emoji/v2/... draggable="false" alt="🐝" title="Honigbiene" aria-label="Emoji: Honigbiene"> #thestravinskychallenge #conductor
So this thread has been quiet due to being struck by Covid 19.. but I’m recovering and had a great morning with Chant funĂ©bre: his 3rd orchestral work but the manuscript was only found and published in 2017! It’s interesting, delicate, and thrilling - go and listen! #wearamask https://abs.twimg.com/hashflags... draggable="false" alt="">
