Large social media platforms like FB, Twitter, TikTok were supposed to hire representatives located in Turkey and report to the Turkish government by today. They are expected to get formal warnings from BTK this month, and that's supposed to be followed by a ₺10m fine in November, then a ₺30m fine in December.

By January, it'll be illegal for Turkish businesses to buy ads from any such sanctioned online platform.

By April and May 2021, access to these platform will be throttled by 50% and 90%. This is all possible due to the centralized power of BTK over Internet access in Turkey.

And if they did have reps in Turkey, they would be legally responsible to take down any "slanderous" or "privacy infringing" content within 48 hours of notice by affected parties, without waiting for judicial process.
There's more in this thread, but these are the most important points. Turkey has a long past in online censorship and has built a lot of the technical, bureaucratic and legal infrastructure to streamline it further going forwards.
This is bad news on the very same day our health minister admitted that the official covid case numbers were basically a sham.
