hi so, i guess this is kind of an informational thread? i always felt rly uncomfy w this so just wanted to express it now that im a bit less scared of getting completely cancelled (as duncan/sab r rly big accs). pog donât look this is about the fake leak that happened on sep 9
clarifying what the fake leak was: duncan tweeted the first screenshot below, getting peopleâs attention (pretending to be shocked). he then tweeted the second picture below, claiming it was posted by wdtvpress(? or something like that) and then promptly deleted.
this was so nobody could actually check if it was real, bc according to duncan it had already been deleted and so u wouldnât be able to see it anyway. sabeth interacted with him, pretending to also be surprised. some of this banter has been deleted but hereâs parts still up below
duncan then tweeted first picture below in the chaos. sabeth tweeted second picture (sry for bad quality). after a while sabeth posted the original photo that had been edited to include the new character, and said that it was fake oh nooo (as if they had discovered this)
duncan then tweeted the below. people were genuinely worried abt his mental health and made sure he was ok and stuff in the replies. he seemed really hurt, right? as shown in last tweet, sabeth also faked distress abt the leak being fake/possibly fake. then guess what happened?

+ for a season two coming closer than expected, raised hopes for this cool new character, etc and so when it was revealed to be fake people were genuinely disappointed/hurt. and finally, it just wasnât a funny or entertaining leak. what was the joke?? was there a point???
there was nothing that the leak was referencing. there was no punchline. itâs not like people had known about duncans oc beforehand, no indications were given that duncan/sab were lying or joking. there was no /j or ANYTHING to indicate it wasnât real or that it was a joke.

effort to create this realistic of a leak, and not once did they consider it would be a bad idea and stop. anyway, back to the point of it being unfunny- they obviously thought it would be funny. the only reason it would be funny is if u found enjoyment in tricking other people,
which i think they did, and u cant rly deny that. itâs just not cool for a joke to only be âfunnyâ because other people donât get it/because other people truly believe in this hope of getting new content all the while you know that itâs actually fake.
and then thereâs the issue of them pretending to also be sad about the leak, which i feel is the most fucked up. imo. just... it seems really manipulative and shitty to pretend to be hurt and crestfallen and to then have other ppl in the replies going âoh no??? are u ok :((â +
and stuff when YOU WERE THE ONE WHO CAUSED THIS. they tried to gain sympathy and lessen suspicion (well, mostly duncan did) by pretending to be as hurt as other ppl were. thatâs just like. fucked up lol!!! here are some examples in the replies of duncan pretending to be sad :D
you might be wondering âwhy would they pretend to be all sad about the leak afterwards instead of admitting they did it and being like âhaha it was all fakeââ? besides wanting to emotionally manipulate their followers into not attacking/suspecting them of the fake leak of course

so basically!! duncan and sabeth created a leak which they thought would be funny... because other people would be tricked by it and believe it was real. they then pretended to be sad abt it in order to emotionally manipulate their audience into feeling bad for them,
making it so that people were less likely to accuse them of faking the leak (because you would look insensitive, and also bc u would feel bad yourself). duncan flat out said that they should let it (the drama) die instead of ever admitting to it! sabeths reason for apologising +
