In honestly I personally think biological sex is more accurate but I do understand why the concept of gender identity is talked about by academics.
Honestly at first glance the concept is silly. But I do understand why academics and medical organizations take the concept seriously.
From a biological perspective all male and female is reproductive roles. That’s basically it. There is nothing special about being a boy or a girl.

But we humans take the concept of being a boy or a girl like it’s some kind of important detail about you.
Like look at language. Some languages like Spanish are built entirely on gender where everything is either masculine or feminine.
Plus letting a trans people identify as their preferred identity doesn’t hurt anyone.
And gender reassignment does help the mental health of the individual.
Plus the concept of gender identity isn’t something exclusively for trans people.
People with DSDs also many times identify outside their biological sex or prefer to be assigned a certain sex.
I feel like people take this whole topic in a very black and white matter.
We mix up social interpretations and biological interpretations on the matter.
We need to understand why academics think this about a topic.
