(1)I've had an agreement with a well known domainer that I held in high regard in which I was to find him premium domains for a commission of 10% of the total sales price should he purchase the domain. This is an agreement that we both fully volunteered in partaking.
(2)The agreement held strong with no issues for a few transactions. Until the most recent transaction in which the well known domainer says that he has enacted a payment plan with the seller and would like to pay me my commission monthly over 12 months.
(3) Given the previous level of trust between us, I agree in principle. Fast forward 3 payments, he says that he will need to halt payments briefly for covid-19 related reasons but will keep me updated.
(4) I will never be the type to chase anyone for money, especially those more senior than me out of respect so I wait but after 7 months of no information or updates I reconnect with the them to try and find a swift resolution.
(5)The total owed is $xxxx ,not a large amount but enough for me to wonder why they've neglected to follow up with me. We touched base a few times recently and I tried to bring it up, respectfully, but every time it's either deflected or it becomes a point of resistance.
(6) New information comes to light and it appears that they've apparently (no proof provided) renegotiated with the seller and come up with a new long term payment plan, which they have been paying without my knowledge.
(7)The domainer now wants to pay me a low $xxx amount and stated that it is 10% of what they've since paid to the seller, completely ignoring the missed payments.
(8) I refuse stating out of principle I should be paid for the 7 (soon to be 8) months of non-payment in full given that his payment plan with the seller is irrespective of our own individual agreement.
(9)During our entire exchange I prefaced every communication with the premise that this is a matter of integrity and moral principle. They don't seem to understand this and have since stopped responding to my emails.
(10) They could be completely fabricating the entire payment plan with the seller for all I know since the domain in question is now being developed.
(11) Out of respect to that person, I have yet to go public with their name. However, I'd like to use twitter as a platform to voice my opinion on the matter.
Am I being played or what?
