Insights from my first night of Fatalis attempts: This fight is hard. Like, really hard. I have managed to consistently make it to phase 3 but he gains even more new attacks in that phase that both have a wide range and hit really hard. This is going to take some time.
In phase 1, the large cone breath attack can be avoided either by sticking close to his legs and simply running back towards the tail or by standing behind one of the broken pillars. This creates a zone of safety where you can heal up for sharpen.
If you're still in the story version of the quest, flinching Fatalis in phase 1 after the Ace Hunter has moved will trigger a ballista binder, giving you a chance to hit the head. You're supposed to be able to do this without him, but I cannot find the binders anywhere.
[SPOILERS?] The transition to phase 2 has you hide behind the same hunk of mental that protects you in the cinematic. This melts away afterwards and cannot be used for future transitions.
Once Fatalis lands back on the platform, the gate and the dragonator will be opened up. The gate serves the same purpose as the hunk of metal from the first transition phase. The dragonator acts and a cool scenery piece since I couldn't figure out how actually use it.
After enough damage, Fatalis will use the inferno attack again. This time you'll hide behind the gate mentioned before. Make sure to pull the lever once you're behind it to trigger it and avoid certain death.
This leads into phase 3. This was as far into the fight as I was able to get but based on the power up and the massive glowing weak point that shows up, it's safe to say that this is probably the last phase. All of Fatalis' attacks will power up and he'll gain some new moves.
I've lasted a combined total of about 30 seconds in this phase due to the amount of damage Fatalis pumps out. The attacks are reasonably well telegraphed but actually avoiding them is another story. Here, you're told to break the horns to limit it's power.
And that's as far as I've gotten. The armor looks pretty meh tbh, but I've been told the weapons are god tier, so that's pretty hype. My next attempts will be testing the new clutch claw skill with LBG to see if that helps smooth out the fight.
