Since I moved to Missoula three years ago I have been very lucky to pay $0 for childcare because my previous daycare was very generous. However, after learning how the owner was treating her employees and the lack of attention being paid to my kid, I took Alaska somewhere else—
And have paid $140 a month for the last year but received better care/education/practice for Alaska and she has literally blossomed and I can’t thank my new daycare owners enough. However, after renewing my scholarship allowing me to receive a reduced rate, I’m being told that—
Due to ‘new’ self-employment income (I work for Shipt delivering groceries), my copay will raise itself to $565 a month. Seth lives with us now so that’s definitely a contributing factor, but even with a combined income of around $2000 per month, we can NOT afford—
800+ in rent, 160+/- in gas, 80 in utilities, 565 for childcare, over 200 for both phone bills, 50 for internet, 130 in car insurance, PLUS groceries (where we also just got removed from SNAP even though our income has not gone up but our expenses have) and expect to survive.
What I wish people could understand is that it is so fucking hard to prove you are poor enough to receive assistance. I’m not begging for help, I’m just asking that the system stop hating poor people and normal people quit hating poor people. I don’t want to quit school just so
My family can afford groceries and I damn sure don’t want to pull my daughter away from her friends and this beautiful and caring environment that has done so much good for her. Why should I have to choose between things like that? It sucks so much I wish it could be fixed
Here’s the: anyway that’s my rant part of this thread. I’m exhausted and wondering how we will dig our way out of this hole. Fuck classism. Gn
