I’m gonna do my artificial lift review via Twitter thread to relieve some stress and allow myself to nerd out a bit. First one is ESPs - I’ll post a bit each day and hopefully be able to answer some questions.
ESPs are obviously the most contentious production topic of this shale boom. High LOE, high capital cost, very complex systems that can bite you in the butt if you pick the wrong well for them.
Within the ESP you have your pump stack at the top, gas separators which also include the fluid intake, motor seals (or protectors) the motor and the sensor. Cable runs down to the motor and attaches via a pothead (CC @FracSlap) which seals the connection from wellbore fluid.
I think we’ll talk pumps first then work down the stack? I guess that makes the most sense.
I think drawing things myself will add to the mystique of this thread. More to come tomorrow night!!!
