am i going to livetweet, of all things, my reaction to a mashup album?

i mean, it's great, as always, but does my first reaction to really have any valu--
["you've just crossed over into... #MouthDreams"]
fuck it, i love this and i'm gonna yell about it now

okay, the 'reveal' of spongerock was great, but the integration of the ukulele into the later verses is just

"if i was a car, i bet i'd be a good car, and that's what tortures me"
the most relatable lyrics of our generation

the editing of individual sounds/words into new, original-sounding full lyrics on this album is just on another level
like, i thought Wow Wow was good, and this entire album so far appears to be at that level of quality, technically

COME ON GET HAPPY
can't believe it took 6 tracks before the feeling of "I KNOW THIS SAMPLE BUT I CAN'T REMEMBER FROM WHERE" tore me to pieces
(it's the popcorn synth under Get Happy)

was gonna say something about "you can't smell your knees" but then The Lion Sleeps Tonight cut through the bass of the track into my ears, killing me instantly
i had no idea there were this many versions of that Chili's commercial
[whispers to date as My Mouth starts during Mouth Dreams] that's Mouth
holding out hope for a reprise of Drywall somewhere in here
"i don't miss you babe and i do wanna miss a thing"

oh god for a second i thought Sleepin' was just gonna be a SiivaGunner and never actually resolve into a song
bells
this song is the best depiction of being drunk in all media
also again, the seamless editing of even the chorus to make it sound like they actually sang those lines is unbelievable, and it really drives home that when there's a sudden cut it's because Neil actually wanted a sudden cut
the lyrics to Stacy's Mom are already creepy, and slowing them down this much just makes it so much worse
honestly they should have played this at the end of Fight Club instead
"what the he[BEEEEEP]"
thank god, we can leave the parental advisory label off this one

fred durst sounds a lot better when chipmunked
Limp Wicket gives me a really strong feeling of Neil just coming back to making animutations again after a few decades of time off
oh good it's another track with a bunch of intro/outro sounds from before/after the actual movie/TV show/whatever, this will definitely make sure i lose my goddamn mind trying to list the samples
so far i recognize:

Cannibals is no T.I.M.E., but they both do a good job of making you realize how sad and elegaic the lyrics of the original are
Dad
you can hear Don Pardo aging over the course of this track
THE FUCKING BOOS FOR 'NEVER GONNA GIVE YOU UP'
this may be the most emotional song on the album
I THOUGHT I WAS BRACED FOR IT WHEN I HEARD 'CLOSER' START
I WASN'T BRACED FOR OWL CITY
I WASN'T BRACED FOR OWL CITY
the transition from The Downward Spiral piano motif into the next track
*chef's kiss, again*

the one two punch of Billy Joel into Avenged Sevenfold
AND THEN IT JUST FUCKIN STOPS
the way the filter over the Fell In Love With A Girl chorus fits it into the music is so good
WAH
IT'S HIM

WALUIGI COULDN'T BE IN SMASH BECAUSE HE HAD A COMMITMENT IN THE RECORDING STUDIO
"wait that's not a pee wee herman laugh"
and then the track starts in earnest
i love the way the timing of these albums is set up so that you realize what's being done either immediately before or immediately after it happens

i know i keep saying it but the editing to form these lyrics is so good

IT'S SMASH MOUTH
THEY'RE BACK
THEY'RE BACK
were the past two albums just a dream
holy shit what the fuck
how can Brithoven be this good
Beethoven's 5th and In The Hall of the Mountain King were not directions that i saw this album going in
can we just get a full album of Neil mashing up Romantic-era classics
is this the nice modem
wow
needs another few listens before i'll feel like ranking it relative to the others, but at any rate i'm not disappointed

i will say, although all of the Mouth albums feel like they're made to be listened to in full, this one feels especially so, with all the shorter songs and interesting transitions between tracks
the ID3 tags on the MP3s give the genre as 'Dream', which i gotta say is really pretty accurate
there are also single letters in the comment fields of each track: "iahctenfaigateetrmocnkesss" from start to end
