Here’s another example of how deceptive and manipulative the Morrison Govt is. On 1st Oct, the legislation that underpins the Collaborative Arrangements for #NursePractitioners was due to 'Sunset’.
On 29 Sept, without any notice, communication, consultation or COLLABORATION, @acnp_national discovered by chance that an extension of the sunset date had been applied for 2 years, meaning that Collaborative Arrangements are now to continue until 2nd October 2022.
We have been working under these restrictions that discriminate against the most vulnerable of our patients, restrict our ability to practice, do not contribute to safety or quality of care, and perpetuate anti-competitive behaviour for over 10 years.
The Collaborative Arrangements for NPs are solely related to the right of patients to claim MBS rebates or receive a PBS subsidy, thereby penalising the patient for their choice to see a Nurse Practitioner, with the most disadvantaged members of community being most vulnerable.
Evidence supporting removal of the Collaborative Arrangements is both robust and comprehensive, and has been completely ignored by the Government
Significant work and taxpayer money has gone into the MBS review, which addressed this, and the results continue to be delayed, with no timelines at all.
The Collaborative Arrangements are used regularly to refuse referrals, block access to care, and have led to breaches in patient privacy, all of which @GregHuntMP is aware of.
How can the Govt allow this to occur without consulting with anyone, let alone the peak body for #nurseprqctitioners? Yet another example of the underhanded, unfair, and bullying tactics of this Government.
At a time when #Nursepractitioners are working hardest to provide quality healthcare for the community, especially in #aged care during a pandemic, this is another low blow.
