Okay, here it goes. TW// racism, ableism, spoilers for the series finale of the 100

Before I start, I want to make it clear that I’m coming from the perspective of an Arab Muslim and someone who has struggled with mental health. Pls be respectful and don’t invalidate me.
1) Jason using Bob’s mental health against him and painting him out as the villain/reason s7 was shit. It’s already a terrible thing to do because mental health is no one’s fault and people shouldn’t be blamed or ostracized for trying to take care of themselves. But the fact
That Bob is a MOC makes it so much worse. POC are never given the same compassion and understanding as white people when it comes to our mental health. We’re not struggling, we’re a danger or we’re not not trying to better ourselves, we’re irresponsible and selfish
We aren’t allowed to be human. And the fact that Jason demonstrated that racism towards Bob in real life and in the show infuriates me. We are people. We are hurting. Let us hurt. Why are we villainized for our pain?
2) that brings me to my next point: racism in the show. It is something that has been obvious since the beginning but I’m just going to touch on this season.
I am a minority in a world that hates me, that has put a target on my back because of the language I speak, the religion I follow, my appearance, my heritage, my culture. And I’ve never had any good rep to look up too which was an isolating experience
Which is why I connected with Bellamy so much, even though I’m not Filipino, the very fact that a MOC was breaking barriers gave me hope. And my heart breaks for all of those Filipinos who saw themselves for the first time in Bellamy Blake, who believed they too could be the
Heroes of their own stories and not just token side characters. And it wasn’t just the fact the Bellamy died, it’s the fact that he was killed by a white woman, left to die alone, villainized and never given any peace . The treatment of POC in this show has been horrific from
The start. It is evident that POC are always given more brutal deaths that are some sort of torture porn which glamorizes the pain that POC go through. And if they aren’t killed they’re sidelined to the point you forget they’re there. Despite knowing all that, I was still
Horrified by this season. 4 POC deaths in 4 episodes. If that doesn’t scream racism I don’t know what does. Not only were they killed but they were essentially plot points to progress the development of storyline of a white character
Bellamy was supposed to help O and Clarke, Gabriel was O and hope, and Emori was Murphy. It’s sickening that the deaths of POC are diminished to nothing more than a means for furthering the story. We see the pain of both the POC and the white characters but POC are villainized
While white characters are sympathized with and coddled. We need to stop this narrative of BIPOC being so strong that we don’t need help or we’re not human beings. And that is the part that really gets me
We are not fucking token characters that are there to help white characters. We are fully fledged complex human beings and I’m sick and tired of the fact that we are dimished to just side kicks. I am sick and tired of BIPOC being boxes that show runners can tick off to make
Themselves look better. Bad rep is not rep. It is bullshit.
3) racism continued: and I forgot to add this earlier but erasing your male MOC cause you’re a racist dick and giving the rest of your characters happy endings is such a slap in the fact to POC
You are actively telling us that we don’t get happy endings if we oppose white people and that no one would give a shit. What’s more, Bellamy was such a groundbreaking character and to throw away what means to POC is so offensive and disgusting
How dare he ruin good rep
4) ableism pt 2. There’s plenty of ableism in this show but this episode really set me off. Saying Madi’s dead when she’s not is so fucking offensive and ableist. That’s actively telling your audience that being disabled means there’s no point in life or that’s it’s better to
Dead which is disgusting on so many levels. Not to mention, the fact that Jason used such a sensitive subject as just a plot tool to create emotional turmoil makes me want to throw up
5) tw//misogyny

There is this weird idea that Jason has where women can’t be strong and happy. That they can’t be in relationships and be their own person. That women can only be strong when they’re hurting
Once again this is Jason glamourizinf the pain of a minority and spreading dangerous ideas. Also, he’s managed to pit every female against each other which doesn’t sit right to me. And, the fact that once Clarke became a mom, she lost the rest of her personality pisses me off
I’ve probably forgotten a lot of things and I’m not entirely sure I make any sense but I’m just angry and I had to speak my truth. If you read this far, thank you. This is something I’ve wanted to talk about for a longtime but felt to afraid to. So thank you to @WalIflowerQueen
for giving me the encouragment to say use my voice because all to often it feels like it’s silenced.
