I am going to vent here a bit: For the @OVWWCast, we put up YouTube Mirrors for each episode. The way I render them is through VEGAS Pro 14. This is how I also edit my Steam VODs when needed. This program is a nightmare to use for the podcast, it seems. #vegaspro
For the previous episode and the episode that is to release today, VEGAS keeps having a hissy fit. It’ll get through more than half the rendering when it will either stop and freeze permanently or crash entirely. This is a major problem as rendering takes hours to do.
For today’s hissy fit, I left VEGAS render overnight and it crashed. Since I got up at 11 AM, I have spent my entire day trying to re-render it and see what happens. First try, I didn’t think it was the issue from last time, so I just let it go. Didn’t work.
Second time it crashes, I realize I’m having the same issue again. I believed the way I fixed it the first time was just a computer restart. Not this time; Try #3 fails. Time to scour the Internet again for potential help. I’m currently on attempt #5 or #6.
The solutions are either non-helpful or do not work. Allow VEGAS more RAM? Doesn’t work. Change GPU? Nope. Currently GPU Acceleration is off. This new render is going to take an hour longer with no guarantee it will work. I’m loosing it over here.
VEGAS Pro 14 works just fine to render stream VODs. I can make the edits I need and it renders just fine. A one hour long stereo track, some images, and a line of text? Can’t be rendered all the way. It would not bother me if rendering did not take hours.
I am at my wits end with VEGAS Pro 14. I may drop it entirely at this rate if this or the next try (fingers crossed not) fail. For what people consider great software, how is it this nightmarishly garbage at it’s job?
If any one has any advice, this thread and my ears are open. I’m just tired. I want to put out the content I love doing to the world. This should not be a struggle. #vegaspro14 #vegaspro #techsupport
