As we know, the Nationals won't be taking part in this year's MLB playoffs.

So, I've decided to tweet out highlights from last season's postseason (in this thread), on the same date and exact same time they happened last year.

Keep an eye out tomorrow for the Wild Card Game...
At this time a year ago... Trea Turner got the Nationals on the board for the first time in the 2019 postseason with a solo home run.
At this time a year ago... Stephen Strasburg came into the game for his first career relief appearance for the Nationals.

He shut down the Brewers over three scoreless innings but the Nats were still down 3-1 heading into the bottom of the 8th...
At this time a year ago... "Line drive, base hit to right. That'll score one, that'll score two as the ball gets away from Grisham in right. That's gonna score three runs! And the Washington Nationals have the lead!"

Madness ensued. Beer flew everywhere.
At this time a year ago... Daniel Hudson locked down an incredible Wild Card-winning Curly W. And YEEEEEEEEEEEEEET.
At this time a year ago... Patrick Corbin escapes a self-inflicted bases loaded jam in the first inning of the NLDS.

Not too many Nats highlights from this game in truth.
At this time a year ago... Adam Eaton makes a great sliding catch at the warning track to deny Will Smith. This is just the first part of his eventual big postseason.
At this time (2 mins ago cos I messed up) a year ago... Howie Kendrick gets the Nationals on the board for the first time in the NLDS with an RBI single.

Kendrick with a big hit and Clayton Kershaw surrendering a big hit. Wonder if that will be a theme...
At this time a year ago... Don't sleep on Juan Soto's defense. The 20-year-old made a great diving catch to rob Clayton Kershaw.

I wonder if these two facing off against each other will come up later on in this thread.
At this time a year ago... Ho-hum, Stephen Strasburg finishes off another stellar postseason outing, allowing one run in six innings, by nabbing a sharp comebacker.
At this time a year ago... BAH GAWD, that's Max Scherzer coming out of the bullpen!

Scherzer really put the Mad into Mad Max in this relief appearance, eating the Dodgers alive by striking out the side in dominant fashion.
At this time a year ago... Nats fans breathed a sigh of relief as Daniel Hudson danced around the danger he created and struck out Corey Seager to draw the series even at 1-1.

Note the Hudson slider down and in to strike out a lefty. Might see that again.
At this time a year ago... Juan Soto hits a loud tater to dead CF to give the Nationals an early lead in Game 3 of the NLDS.

It was Soto's first home run of the postseason, but it definitely wasn't his last.
At this time a year ago... Aníbal Sánchez finished off five innings of one-run ball in Game 3 of the NLDS.

While Scherzer, Strasburg, and Corbin get a lot of the credit for their success in the postseason, don't sleep on just how good Sánchez was last October.
At this time a year ago... Max Scherzer struck out Gavin Lux with a trademark grunting, overpowering fastball to set the Dodgers down in the 4th.

After a so-so Wild Card Game start, Max was here to dominate with the Nats staring down elimination.
At this time a year ago... Anthony Rendon nudged the Nationals ahead 2-1 in the bottom of the 5th with an RBI single.

This was only his fourth hit of the postseason to that point, but thankfully, he really started hitting at an MVP-level again after this game.
At this time a year ago... "A legendary Nat, with a legendary moment."

In his second start of the postseason, Ryan Zimmerman breaks open Game 4 in the fifth inning with a towering three-run home run. Really underrated moment of last October.
At this time a year ago... Max Scherzer digs deeeeeep to get out of a bases-loaded jam in the 7th with a Chris Taylor strikeout and Joc Pederson groundout.

Behind Max, the Nats secured the win in Game 4 and forced a winner-take-all Game 5 in LA, hoping to exorcise some demons...
At this time a year ago... Howie Kendrick hits one deep to CF, Bellinger back to the warning track... to the wall... and caught.

Ok, it's not technically a Nats highlight, but I think you all know why I included it in this thread.
At this time a year ago... Juan Soto cuts the deficit to 3-1 as the 20-year-old drove in Anthony Rendon after his leadoff double.

It definitely wasn't the biggest pair of knocks these two would have this game though...
At this time a year ago... Back-to-back home runs on back-to-back pitches by Anthony Rendon and Juan Soto to tie the game off of Clayton Kershaw!

Stayed in the fight.
At this time a year ago... Adam Eaton catches a deep flyball from Will Smith at the warning track.

All the Game 5 heartbreaks from years past flashed before the Nats' eyes, but they held on to get it to extra innings.
At this time a year ago... "Swing and a fly ball centerfield, deep. Bellinger going back, to the warning track, to the wall. It's a grand slam! Howie Kendrick has done it! They're going crazy in the Nationals dugout!

"Do you believe it!?!"
At this time a year ago... The Nationals finally win a playoff series! Michael A. Taylor wraps it up with an outstanding diving catch to clinch the win.

MAT will forever have the most casual reaction to a playoff series-winning catch ever.
Also at this time a year ago... YEEEEEEEEEET 2.0
At this time a year ago... Yan Gomes gets the Nationals on the board first against the Cardinals with an RBI double to drive in Howie Kendrick.

Up until this point, Nats catchers had been a combined 1-for-18 in the postseason.
At this time a year ago... Anthony Rendon makes a nice play to finish off two perfect innings for Aníbal Sánchez.

It was just the beginning of what would end up being Aníbal's best start as a National.
At this time a year ago... With Sánchez cruising, the Nationals offense finally got an insurance run in the 7th.

It was that man Howie Kendrick again, driving in Adam Eaton after a one-out triple.
At this time a year ago... Aníbal Sánchez saw Matt Carpenter to ground out to first base to complete seven no-hit innings.

In case anyone needed reminding, he showed everyone it was definitely a big four, not just a big three.
At this time a year ago... Ryan Zimmerman with an absolutely otherworldly catch of Tommy Edman's line drive.

Let's be honest, we all thought Aníbal might complete the no-hitter after this catch. Unfortunately, he lost the no-no just one hitter later.
At this time a year ago... With Daniel Hudson on paternity leave, Sean Doolittle closed out the Nationals' first NLCS win with a perfect inning and a third.

For all the struggles he had this year, don't forget just how good he was in the playoffs in '19
