hey psa for anybody who like wanted a wacom mobilestudio tablet: they have the whole Battery Might Explode problem and they're doing anything they can to sweep it under the rug; a quick thread of what's up w my tablet and how theyve handled it. RTs r appreciated if this helps u

1] so the mobilestudio screen is supposed to be 100% flush to the body of the tablet and a few months ago I realized the screen of mine was slowly pushing out on one side, the side w all the buttons. a quick Reddit scroll-through revealed several have had this happen

2] some to just Alarming degrees ! and for every one it was the battery expanding. the battery's on the same side as the buttons so if your screen's Only popping out on that side, it's the battery. now onto what they're doing about it...

3] a commonality on every one of those threads was "I called them and they said it was my fault" or "I called them and they admitted they knew there was this problem but I'd have to pay for replacement/they never put out a psa"

4] as far as I can find, that's true—they have not alerted anyone that this is a problem with their batteries despite it being the same expands-then-explodes problem that apple and samsung and others have had. in fact my own story supports them tryna sweep it under the rug lol!

5] I've been busy and depressed so I didnt call them myself, but my dad did, and hes no bullshitter; he told me they tried to claim us not updating the firmware caused the problem (???), which, That's Not True because I keep all my shit up-to-date unless I have reason not to

6] and he had to Convince them that no, we didnt fuck it up, the battery was gonna goddamned Explode, and we needed a replacement. so finally we got that sorted, we'll be paying for the battery replacement cause its outta warranty, and they gave us some advice to prevent

7] that from happening:
-dont plug it in when it's full
-dont plug it in when it's off
-dont leave it plugged in when it's off or full
-let the battery run down Every Time
mind, they apparently framed it not as "these batteries need to be cared for this way" but rather as

8] "your fault for doing these things we never told you not to do"
which, hey, this shit may be common knowledge. maybe I'm a dumbass! still, I'd rather things be over-explained than assumed common knowledge, yknow?

9] anyways yeah PSA to every digital artist looking into wacom tablets; much as I genuinely love using mine I have had SO many stupid fucking problems with mine and had my dick slapped around by their support so much that I genuinely cant recommend mobilestudios they're just

10/fin] unstable and while they work like a dream when they do work, sometiems getting them to work is an actual nightmare. unfortunately I dunno any good alternatives yet so like .. feel free to drop em in replies and I'll add to this thread (if this thread Goes Anywhere-)
