I HATE all these watered down attempts at "decolonizing" libraries and LIS stuff. "Decolonizing" and "anti-racism" are just becoming synonyms for EDI, and it's really gross.

Last year there was an article about decolonizing libraries that made me physically ill. At its core, I think decolonial work needs to be intentional and deep and in conversation with others. I started a response article, but it was too emotionally taxing.

I'll post it here. It's not edited, and very much in perpetual draft mode.

I talked about how angry I was at this article among friends. As usual, it was really helpful to be surrounded by love and affirmation from other BIPOC librarians

Hey this got a lot more attention than I thought it would. It was kind of a late day ranty post because I had endured some emotionally taxing EDI training and received some icky emails re: EDI service.

Still recovering from said training, but thanks for the comments. I will get to them all eventually although I may not have the capacity to respond to them all
