Someday abled people will stop w the whole "person with a disability" business, as if disabilities are our inconvenient roommates, but I see today is not that day.
One thing about grad school is that, unlike undergrad, I don't have many local disabled friends, and all the abled people around me have not even had Disability 101, and it's very...tiring.
Even math people I otherwise respect are so ableist, all the time, and I am tired. Our field is fundamentally ableist, so it's not like I expect better, but if I called out every instance of ableism I see, I would have no friends in the field at all, I think. It's lonely.
I will delete this thread later but—if you are disabled and in math please be my friend. It's hard out here.
