reminder that the guy who made inktober plagiarized a black artist heavily and unrepetantly. he also copyrighted inktober and sued artists for using the name to sell their own work

don't do inktober! there are a billion alternative drawing challenges this year to do instead!
the man he plagiarized from is named alphonso dunn and you should buy his book instead. here is the video he made about the plagiarism with very damning examples.
this got a lot of likes so i am once again asking you to look at my cat. look at her. LOOK AT HER

her name is hubris i love her very much :) :) :)
to be clear, nobody is saying you can't do art challenges in october - there's a lot of alternative prompt lists. drawtober, sketchtober, octobit, etc. just search 'inktober alternative' and you'll find plenty. you can do them in ink, just don't call it inktober. happy drawing!
you can draw whatever. you can do pen/ink drawings every day of october, same as you would with inktober! just ideally do not label it inktober. try a label like drawtober. there are a bunch of prompt lists and variations too (e.g. octobit is pixel art). that's all this is saying
none of this is a guilt trip, or trying to take away your fun drawing challenge, just saying "this man trademarked 'inktober' and he is using it to sell a book that is heavily plagiarized so we should probably try to give him as little visibility as possible".
i'm gonna mute this thread now bc its devastating my notifications. if you have a genuine question or concern - in GOOD FAITH, i'm not looking to debate shit including whether or not the book is plagiarism, watch the video if you're unconvinced - you can dm me. enjoy your october
