This thread is for anyone in #DezNat interested in learning about the 3 major covenants in the OT: Sinai/Mosaic, Davidic, Abrahamic/New & Everlasting. It is a simplified explanation, please do your own study. Also, it is helpful to not view these covenants through 1/
(what I call) a Restoration lens, a frequent habit of the LDS—we interpret what WAS by what is NOW.

the Covenant. An over simple comparison is a temple recommend. Is the recommend the Covenant? No it leads to the covenant. Same with the Mosaic law==>Covenant. I digress.

received promised blessings. If not, they didn’t. It was not an INDIVIDUAL covenant which is where most LDS get confused. This is why we have the High Holy Days and Yom Kippur—they Atone for the sins of the NATION. To “atone” individually one had to keep the law perfectly. 4/
ANY country inhabited by House of Israel descendants is covered by the SC...specifically obedience to the 10 commandments. One of the greatest blessings for keeping the SC is national protection. This is the promise referred to in Ether. Anyway the point is SC is a nat’l cov. 5/

It’s hallmark are the promises of the Messiah & our individual relationship to Him.
The Abrahamic Covenant on the other hand, has & will be an INDIVIDUAL covenant. While it has National birthright blessings bestowed to the House of Israel as a Nation (a right to the gospel, 7/

a right to the priesthood, a right to eternal parentage), the AC has to be entered into INDIVIDUALLY, despite birthright. This is why God entered into the AC with Abraham, then re-entered it with Isaac, then re-entered it with Jacob & enters it individually with each of us. 8/
It is a lack of education among LDS to think that the ONLY covenant that God has entered into with the House of Israel is the AC. That is simply looking at it through a restoration lens & the conclusion is not based in scripture. Neither is it true that b/c God extended 9/
add’l covenant that the former were eradicated. It is this viewpoint I find arrogant (and wrong.)
Is the AC the one that “matters” to us? Of course. Does that mean we are released from the SC as a nation? Ether spoke about the consequences of doing so, & we are living it now 10/
