The last tweet is the kicker: 1827 is a neighboring building, under construction and uninhabitable. He gets their mail.

...and oh God: I just realized that we've set ourselves up for a perfect storm. Get this: https://twitter.com/ethanrbarton/status/1311318695415816193
How do you condition an organism? Through repeated stimulus.

This is how activism works: not by galvanizing response to one-off incidents, but by creating sustained, increasing pressure to induce galvanizing reaction *to things that happen to some degree on the regular.*
The trick is that it has to happen more than once. That's how the galvanizing becomes a reflex.

Okay, well: in every single election, there are fuckups. More fuckups and errors than you can count, all over the country.

But usually, *they all happen on one day.*
When all the election fuckups happen on one day -- and when that day is also a big news day -- most election fuck-ups don't get a huge amount of coverage. They're local news. Local issues. And there are too many in too many places for journos to cover, so they ignore most.
Except this year:

* vastly more people than usual are voting by mail, meaning "election day" is effectively much, much longer...

* and we have social media and we're primed to jump on election problems...

* which means every election fuckup, wherever it is, gets more oxygen...
tl;dr: even if we have approximately the normal fuck-ups of an average election, we are going to be seeing them better and over a longer period of time, so it will LOOK like there are more of them...

...and the increased vote-by-mail means there probably WILL be more of them...
If you thought trust in this election was gonna go out the window, you should revise your estimate of how bad that trust will get.

I think it's going to get very, very bad.
We are literally *conditioning ourselves to distrust our own election,* which ha ha ha oh God everything is horrible eat at Arby's.
