Hi authors! My students wrote letters to authors whose titles have been banned or challenged. I will not include their full names, nor any identifying information. They would love a response from you, even if it's a word or two.
P.S. If anyone has an connection at Scholastic where I could send some emails, I'd prefer not to print out letters and mail them to Dav Pilkey, but I will if I have to!
The next letter is to JK Rowling. We have talked about Rowling's anti-trans rhetoric in class, but we've also talked about how feelings surrounding a book can be complicated.
To @RL_Stine from your biggest fan in fourth grade
By the way, all these letters were written by fourth graders. If you have any connections to these authors, students would love a response, though I did prepare them for the event that no one will hear back from anyone.
Some more letters from 4th graders to authors whose books have been banned/challenged. If anyone has any kind of connections to these authors, please lend a hand. I have prepared students for the strong possibility that authors won't respond, but it would be cool to be surprised!
