On Inauguration Day in 2017, I joined some amazing folks in blockading one of the entrance gates in DC. We wanted to show on day 1 that we would resist Trump every single day. It was a rough day with pushing and shoving by Trump supporters, but, together, we were largely safe.
My biggest concern on that day in 2017 as a cis white guy was that I might get punched in the face....Not shot.

Today I'm wondering how to safely hit the streets in protest if needed post-election. Thanks to Trump, it's reasonable to worry about life-threatening violence.
And that's me, a cis white guy carrying a ton of privilege. My LGBT friends, my BIPOC friends, my immigrant friends and Muslim friends and women and so many more vulnerable populations? We simply must stand with them. Trump is making them unsafe every single day.
