I've read so many bad takes on the CDPR crunch situation that I really need to address them. This is a thread, and my last take today. Sorry for ranting so much, it just makes me unreasonably angry. BT#1: I've heard people say that in Poland you cannot work more than 150h a year overtime. the thing is, that applies only if you're an employee. In video games, you're usually a contractor. And even if you're an employee, you can still be a contractor IN THE SAME COMPANY 2/

...small shops will do it ;ole that, as the employees are not allowed to work on weekends, they will contract the same employees on a different contract effectively circumventing the laws. Labour situation is getting better in Poland, but it's really easy to workaround laws 3/

BT#2: "This is only 6 weeks = 7 extra days" NO! They've been crunching for at least 15 months now and it's not even a secret. "Non-mandatory crunch" is an oxymoron and everyone who worked for a day in the games industry knows that. 4/ https://twitter.com/Sosowski/status/1311250384590114817

BT#3: "They can just change jobs" Yes, and throw away 15 months of crunch. They might not appear in the credits and might not be able to refer the work they done in their resume. BT#6: "They can just delay the game". In video games industry when you crunch and they delay, you still crunch, just longer. Moving the goalposts like this is the worst as there is no end. It's called "death march" They already postponed the game and look how it ended up. 7/

Not saying I have a solution. I certainly don't. But I did want to clear a bunch of confusing points up. Still, I believe Cyberpunk 2077 is gonna be fucking awesome and I can't wait to play it. I wish the best to the devs and the game and hope this ruckus will help them a bit. 8/

I really hope all the ruckus we caused will make CDPR reconsider and perhaps compensate devs better with some proper vacation, health care benefits, gym subscriptions and psychological help because they will really need all of this after finishing the game up! Peace! Sos out 9/9
