A white supremacist is running on a now explicit platform of white supremacy because many MANY “moderate” white people decided four years ago that actually they liked the fruits of white supremacy just fine as long as they could quietly rebrand the orchard.
It’s is not on BIPOC to “save us”. While I wouldn’t dare equivocate the Trump/Biden platforms, let’s be honest in recognizing that the establishment Dems have little interest in doing the hard, uncomfortable work of actually serving BIPOC communities.
As such, it’s entirely bullshit for us (my fellow white people) to SOS those same BIPOC communities. That’s just another form of whiteness making itself comfortable at the labor of BIPOC people while their needs continue to get shelved.
Which is a long winded way of saying: White people, examine your whiteness and then fucking vote. And stop blaming BIPOC for the fact that enough white people are willing to openly or quietly support a white supremacist that one became our president and may do so again.
And please, pay attention to your LOCAL ELECTIONS. That’s where the grassroots candidates are at. That’s where community building happens. That’s where you can find a lot of hope right now. Which is a thing I think many of us need.

Thank you.
