Today is #InternationalPodcastDay and I'd like to take a journey through most of the podcasts I've been a part of, maybe you'll find something new that you'll enjoy and then hit that subscribe button.
In 2014 I learned how to edit audio at the @lpstudio. I was living in Kansas and desperately trying to not work in the service industry.
In 2015 I was still living in Kansas, but met my good friend and extremely talented writer @michaelbsacks and we started @DoinItPod which although on hiatus, we still release remixed episodes every now and again. It's a hilarious podcast so be on the lookout this week.
In 2016 Mike encouraged me to move to NYC, and I soon started on projects with @Mr_Corpo, a friend I hadn't seen in over a decade. We randomly bumped into each other on a street corner in one of the busiest cities on the planet. He taught me how to be a better worker and friend.
I worked on a bunch of freelance audio gigs with folks like @AJInsight, @marketjane, and others before deciding to reach out to a producer I truly respected to have a general and get some direction.
That producer was @GrettaCohn. She added me to a radio list serv where I could observe the conversations and see what was happening in the New York radio world. I was blown away by this kind act as well as all of the new information I was getting.
Soon after that my buddy @TimBarnes451 moved to town and we started hanging out and sharing our struggles of contract life. Tim helped me get a gig with VICE... that really helped me understand "office life". At vice I made a podcast about drake that was hosted by @danozzi.
While this was going on I was regularly attending the NYC Radio Club, I met @BenjaminAhr at one of these and we became buddies. On thanksgiving of 2016 I saw Ben outside of my apartment and he said he had this fun idea for a War Movie podcast, which became @friendlyfireRSS
...But before @friendlyfireRSS got off the ground CBS decided to release a new #StarTrek show called DISCOVERY. @BenjaminAhr and @CutForTime wanted to make a companion podcast about Neeeeewwww Trek to go along with their fantastic podcast The Greatest Generation.
This show was called The Greatest Discovery, and it just had it's 3rd birthday this week! Find out more at @GreatestTrek
Soon after we launched @friendlyfireRSS cohosted by Ben, Adam, and @johnroderick. It's an amazing history podcast using war films as it's the focal point. Hilarious and insightful.
And allllllll this time, I had been creating a seasonal horror movie podcast called @PumpkinSpicePod "A Seasonal Artisanal treat where comedy and horror meet." I cohost this show with my best pal @hibrittanyhigh!
Brit and I also decided to make a show together about 90s tv (and beyond) called The TV Show Show. We just finished the third season of that and it may be the funkiest work we've ever done. Truly a great experience. https://anchor.fm/tvshowshow
I was fortunate enough to land a gig with SiriusXM where I help craft what podcasts will be for their "brand". In doing so Brit and I also were able to make a short retrospective looking back at 30 years of America's Funniest Home Videos. It was WILD!! https://afv-america-this-is-you.simplecast.com/
I'm probably missing something, and there's more to be said. I just wanted to take a journey back through my podcasting experience on #InternationalPodcastDay. I'm really excited about everything I've done. I was in a spiral of depression back in KS and now I'm pretty darn happy.
New episodes of @PumpkinSpicePod start on October 6th. Please subscribe and check them out. Keep making podcasts and having fun.
