Just read a FB post from a school administrative staff (from a grp pg I belong to, not in my SD) and feel need to share. She was sharing how she cries most evenings and often at school these days. It's her job to call parents/caregivers to come get their kids 1/
due to potential COVID concerns (kids who may be presenting symptoms). She shared how much abuse she gets from parents who are upset (mad), scared and confused. She is simply doing her job, to the best of her ability. No one is happy about our current situation, 2/
everyone is being inconvenienced in their own ways. Please let's all try and be a little kinder and gentler. The guidelines are in place to protect us all. Everyone is on high alert, it is new for us all. Teachers and staff have big responsibilities and stress at the best 3/
of times. If you get a call to pick up your child from school pls know it isn't to inconvenience you, it is to try and protect other kids and adults. Everyone is doing the best they can in these uncertain times. If you feel confused or upset, direct your concerns 4/
to your district office, your health authority, your MLA ... not the school administrative staff. These are the same folks who are the frontline support for your kids, greeting them w/ a smile every day, getting ice for a bump, sitting w/ them and making them smile. 5/
We are all in this together and everyone is doing the best they possibly can. I know it is easier to say than do some days, and this reminder is as much for myself as anyone. #bekindtoeachother #bekindbecalmandbesafe #InItTogether #bced
