[Thread] Your copywriting toolkit

5 must-use tools to write words that sell

(Trust me, #4 will surprise you)
1) To write good copy, you need to read good copy.

- Create a separate email to subscribe to good lists
- Find classic ads at http://swiped.co
- Consolidate best finds in a single place: I use @notion
2) Spy on your customers

Facebook groups are the best because you can see WHO the real person is

Some people have a fully open profile and you can see years of posts and opinions... perfect market research ammo

Reddit and interest-specific forums can work too
3) Write at Grade 5 level

When I draft, I always use http://hemingwayapp.com/

Caution: Be careful not to delete all the power words flagged (usually adverbs)
4) Read out loud, on paper

Paper ain’t dead…

Especially if you’re serious about writing copy that converts

Combine printing + reading out loud, and I guarantee you’ll find ways to improve your copy
5) Subject Line Optimization

Use http://sendcheckit.com  to optimize email subject lines

Remember: the first sentence of a tweet is a headline...

And you can perfect it with this tool, too
