The NGOs are finally on board with making trans healthcare a campaign priority. Here are some campaign demands we can start making:

(1) Informed consent for hormones as per WPATH guidelines; train GPs to be able to do this.
(2) GPs able to prescribe voice therapy and hair removal without requiring GIC approval.

(3) Remove the requirement for photographic assessment for hair removal and FFS: make the prescription based on patient's stated need, not clinician perception of looks.
(4) Urgently establish the funding and clinical pathway for NHS provision of FFS. (My understanding is that they've been required to do this in Scotland, but haven't actually started it yet.)
(5) Clear and mandatory guidance for all NHS GPs to provide blood tests on a harm reduction basis to anyone self-medicating or with a private practice.

(6) Trans people to always be represented in the decision-making bodies on trans healthcare.
These are just a few ideas. I would really like to hear your practical demands.
These are simple, practical things that could be done ASAP to improve the Trans Health Crisis. The ultimate aim should be abolition of the coercive GIC system, defunding of psychiatry, and funding of trans community health. https://radicaltransfeminismzine.tumblr.com/post/165475146592/trans-health-manifesto
What we absolutely should not see, from either NGOs or activists, is "More funding for the GICs". This is a woolly demand that perpetuates a coercive, non-functioning system and it could be met without alleviating the trans health crisis at all. Get radical and get specific.
