As a @TuftsNeurosurg resident, you spend 51 months on the neurosurgery service, mostly @TuftsMedicalCtr but also @BostonChildrens and @LaheyHospital 1/

As a PGY1, you will spend 3 months on neurology (incl 2 weeks of EEG and 2 weeks of EMG outpatient clinics), 1 month on ENT, 1 month on SICU, 1 month on anesthesia, 3 months on neurocritical care, and 3 months on neurosurgery. Our PGY1s also get OR time on NCCU/NSGY 2/
PGY1s also take call during the NCCU and NSGY rotations.

PGY2-3 is spent on the neurosurgery service, where residents take call, manage patients on the floor and in the ICU, and operate. 3/
PGY4 is an elective year and includes:
3 mo of pediatric neurosurgery at Boston Children’s Hospital
3 mo of outpatient clinic (Gamma Knife, General Neurosurgery, and Endovascular)
6 months of electives (neuropathology, neuro-ophthalmology, and neuroradiology or endovascular) 4/
PGY5 is also an elective year, where residents may pursue research or an enfolded fellowship. Residents in the PGY4-5 years also occasionally take home call. 5/
As a PGY6, residents are the chief (and sole neurosurgery resident) at the Lahey Clinic. And finally, as a PGY7 residents return to @TuftsMedicalCtr for their chief year.
