For people who are outraged by Trump embracing white supremacy last night- we need to address racism in our own institutions. One year ago the Viens Commission in Quebec found that First Nation and Inuit people are discriminated against when they access public services. 1/
The report included 32 specific recommendations for the health care sector. On Monday, Joyce Echaquan live streamed her dying moments on Facebook to expose the disgusting indifference with which she was treated as she sought medical “care” in Joliette. 2/
In fact it was worse than indifference- it was cruel, dehumanizing and degrading.

Remember this as you reflect on Donald Trump’s call to arms to white supremacists in last night’s Presidential debate. 3/
Canadian institutions uphold white supremacy too and we can’t ignore it. Don’t let the dumpster fire to the South of us distract us from the important work we have to do at home. 4/
There is no better moment than #OrangeShirtDay to show our solidarity with indigenous people and commit to doing everything possible to holding institutions and individuals accountable for their racist actions and inaction. 5/5
