"underrated" non-English, non-Korean series on Netflix

1. 3% (Brazilian Portuguese)

Always my go to recommendation for you who likes a dystopian teenage drama. This is a story about future Brazil that persist on merit-based society -- and its complicated plot of course.

2. The Rain (Danish)

another apocalyptic series, this one is from Denmark. Two siblings tried to face toxic rain and face the world with fellow survivors. A thrilling journey.

I think The Rain is quite popular in Europe?

3. Ragnarok (Norwegian)

Well, I think this series have a quite good promotion already.

This depicted how "titisan" Thor tried to save a small city where he lives from a destructive company ran by frost giants. Somehow, they have Sabrina vibes.

4. Ghost Bride (Mandarin-Malay)

A young woman wed to a deceased heir of a taipan in colonial Malacca -- set as a Ghost Bride. She tried to make a justice of her position.

This is a quite nice Malaysian series! I love their costumes!

5. Japan Sinks 2020 (Japanese)

okay this is an anime..., but this kind of DEFY ALL ANIME. sure it's still about apocalypse and so on but I love how they depict an interracial marriage? disaster resilience? international friendship? traumatic experience? IN ONE???

anw before I continue, let me rant:

heran yeeee kenapa coba produksi tema post-apocalyptic banyak banget, kyk kalau nggak pake subgenre itu kyknya gak keren hadehhh, apa gua yang kurang referensi hmmm

6. Siempre Bruja (Colombian Spanish)

A witch from colonial time was sent to the future to get her lover back and seek for justice.

I like this series but some said it was problematic because of tokenism, white savior, humanizing slave owners, and so on -- well it's telenovela~

7. Blood and Water (South African English-Zulu)

A teen girl investigate whereabouts of her missing older sister, she suspected a star athlete raised in a wealthy family is the person she's searching for.

8. Into The Night (Belgium French)

apocalyptic menehhhh hadehhhh

what if the sun radiation becomes toxic? you ran into the night around the world~ i love their diverse cast and i think this one's is not underrated anymore bcz y'all watched it heuheu

9. Frontera Verde (Colombian Spanish, Witotoan, Brazilian Portuguese)

An ambitious detective from the city investigates femicide happening in Amazon involving indigenous uncontacted tribe -- and something important about her past.

DEFINITELY RECOMMENDED, IT'S JUST EXQUISITE!!!

9a. I checked on facts and storyline of Frontera Verde to my Kalimantan friend and she even approve that in a land where rainforest and indigenous people coexist, their connection to mother nature are VERY strong, and that international interactions are very common there

10. AGGRETSUKO (Japanese)
